Alienware Thunderbolt Video Capture
Required an additional laptop with thunderbolt video capture capability and the choice was the Alienware m16 r1 laptop, as the now retired Alienware m15 r4 had this functioning.
Though after several discussions with various members of the Dell Sales and Support teams,
it was found that no Dell computers support Thunderbolt video capture anymore.
I am reaching out to you to confirm that this information is indeed correct, and that Dell is no longer
supporting the Thunderbolt 3/4 video capture feature.
I know that this will affect many television and video production companies in their decision to purchase
Dell laptops in the future, if indeed this information is correct.
Sadly, most manufacturers do not specify the functioning of the USB-C Thunderbolt port as to whether it is capable of either/or/and storage, networking, display or audio/video capture. This does provide some confusion as to the nature of the USB-C Thunderbolt port in the laptop product line.
If indeed this information is incorrect, could you please advise a number of alternative Dell laptops with the Thunderbolt video capture feature.
