Alienware M11x From 2010
I recently picked up an Alienware M11x from 2010 on eBay. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked at 1.30GHz, an Nvidia GeForce GT 335M, and 4GB of DDR3 memory. In the seller’s description, they mentioned it was “slow” and “lags out.”
I replaced the 15-year-old HDD with a new SSD and reinstalled the original Alienware Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1, which I found on the Internet Archive. Then, I installed all the original drivers and programs, including Alienware Command Center, AlienFX, AlienSense, and even Stardock MyColors from Dell’s website. Once I had all the original drivers, software, wallpapers, and everything else the laptop would have shipped with, I started installing some games from that time period—Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
All of the games have run really well, and I’ve had a great time restoring and bringing this laptop back to its original state. If you have any info, memories, or stories about the M11x, I’d love to hear them!

I loved the M11x and I've had a few R3's over the years and an R2. While they were very underpowered than the bigger AW's available at the time and they did not have nice displays, they were really fun little laptops.
Unfortunately I sold my last R3 a few years ago and I've been wanting to get another one ever since. There is an R2 on eBay here in Australia and I'm thinking about picking it up just to say that I have an M11x again.
I used to travel for work with the huge M18x R2 and also the little M11x R3. The difference in size was ridiculous.
EDIT: I just bought the R2. I'm blaming you for that! :D

That’s awesome! The M11x really is a fun little laptop, even with that super glossy screen. It must have been really nice having both the M18x R2 and the M11x R3 while traveling. Oh yeah, I’m sure that size difference was ridiculous. That’s awesome you had two, though!
And hey, I’ll happily take the blame for you picking up that R2! I hope it brings back some great memories. Let me know how it goes!

@alien-head The R2 arrived a few days ago. I'll get some old games installed on it and see how it goes. I need to get a new black LCD lid cover for it at some stage. Otherwise it's in great shape.

@mattyb3 Awesome to hear it arrived in good shape! Would love to hear how it handles the old games once you’ve had some time with it.

I installed an old game called Sacred that I used to enjoy, it seemed to play pretty well.
I decided to just remove the sticky soft-touch from the LCD lid rather than replace the lid.
I've done quite a few resprays on the older laptops so I've had to remove this stuff before. It's a messy job, it comes off like a sticky resin with the use of some solvent.
Once you remove this layer, you get back to the bare plastic. While it looks matte black (like the first image), it's actually black with a shimmering blue metallic look, when it's wet. I'm going to try and polish it up and see if I can get that metallic sparkle to show permanently.
