18 Area-51 AA18250, not set up from the factory for RAID

I received my laptop on June 18th, and have been trying to set a RAID array with 2 of my three internal drives. When trying to install the Intel RST driver package from the list of drivers for my computer, I get a 'platform not supported' error. I have spent WEEKS trying to resolve this issue with 'tech support', in the meantime installing all of the programs I use, and setting it up on my LAN. Guess what? They knew what the problem was all along!

The drivers were supposed to be installed with Windows 11, but weren't. The solution they gave me, was to use my Windows 11 recovery USB flash drive, install the driver on it, and completely re-install Windows from scratch, wiping out weeks of work. Be warned, if you want to use RAID on your Alienware computer, it isn't set up for it from the factory.

Here is the solution they finally gave me:

To get the drives during installation, please follow this process, assuming you already have a USB Windows bootable media and are prepared for a Windows reinstallation:

Please download this file on your computer.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver

Create a folder in the bootable flash drive and name it IRST, run the downloaded file, and click on Extract (not on Install).

Browse and select the extracted location as IRST folder within the bootable flash drive you have created.

Now, please go to F12 boot menu and choose to Boot from USB. During the Windows installation, when you get to the drives selection screen, please choose "Load Driver" button.

Navigate to the flash drive > IRST folder > Please navigate to a folder where IRST VMD controller driver file is located, click OK to load driver.

You need not select the exact driver file just selecting a folder where file is located will work.

Now you should see the drives.

Why <Profanity is never allowed. DELL-Admin> wasn't it already set up like this before you sent it, Alienware, if you knew this was a problem?

RAID is obsolete use each storage device as a discrete unit

@HedgeFundManager I disagree. If one of my drives go bad, I can replace the drive without losing all of data.

Use a USB enclosure and a hard disk for backups
