18 Area-51 AA18250, minimum fan speeds
My Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250 fans never turn off or go lower than around 50%. Even when temp is super low. Is that by design and normal? Can we have a bios with lower and quieter fan speeds?

Ok turns out it was a laptop problem. I sent to Dell and they replaced my motherboard and screen and now laptop is super quiet and I can barely hear in idle. I had error code 1 red and 4 blue. It works normally even when connected to external displays.

Even on quiet mode and even if the cpu/ gpu temp isn't over 70 c, when a game is running the fans are too loud and are running with over 60%

Ok I did some tests. The fans speeds lock to 50% minimum if using laptop with external displays connected. Once internal display is used. Then regular fan curves apply and laptop is so much quieter. Dell can we please have this fixed in new bios? The fans should not run different based on if external displays are connected.

As far as I know, the loud fan noise in Quiet mode is a BIOS issue. And it was fixed in BIOS v1.8.0.

@zzwar
What is your fan speed in quiet mode now when the laptop is not under load?
What BIOS version did you have before you sent the Dell laptop?

@Tiger-X I was on Bios v1.9.0.
I don't know why it's upside down, but here you go at idle now. It's the Zone 1 fans on both sides that make the most noise. Now it s quiet gentle whoosh sound.

@zzwar
Why do you have different CPU temperatures in different zones? Is this a feature of the new motherboard?

@Tiger-X you are right I do have different temperatures in the zones now. I am not sure why.
