17 R4, BO7, TPM 2.0?
I have an older Alienware 2017 17r4 laptop with the 7820hk cpu and the 1080 gpu. I know this system is very dated but it still runs call of duty just fine with settings tweaked down. Now I’m trying to get black ops 7 going and can’t get past the TPM 2.0 message. My bios is version 1.18.0. All needed drivers are up to date to my knowledge. Every time I go into the bios to enable firmware tpm, I save & reboot but it always reverts back to disabled. UEFI is enabled. Secure boot is enabled. I am at a loss. What do I need to do to enable tpm? Is my machine even capable of enabling the required tpm 2.0? Any help would be appreciated.

Black Ops 7 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled on PC due to its RICOCHET anti-cheat system. This prevents launch if disabled, common on Dell systems like yours.
Check TPM Status
Run
tpm.mscin Windows Run dialog (Win+R) to see if "The TPM is ready for use." Alternatively, entermsinfo32and check "TPM Version" under System Summary; it should show 2.0. If not detected, proceed to BIOS.Enable in Dell BIOS
Restart and press F2 at Dell logo to enter BIOS Setup. Go to Security > TPM 2.0 Security (Latitude/OptiPlex/Precision/Vostro/XPS) or toggle Intel PTT/fTPM On (Alienware/Inspiron), then enable Secure Boot under Boot tab. Save (F10) and exit; reboot verifies changes.
Additional Fixes
Update BIOS from Dell Support using your service tag for latest TPM firmware. Clear TPM ownership in BIOS if owned, or reset via power cycle (unplug AC, hold power 60s). For Linux Mint, game requires Windows dual-boot as anti-cheat blocks Linux.
Verify After Changes
Relaunch Black Ops 7; error should resolve. If persists, run Windows Update for drivers or check disk is GPT (not MBR) via
msinfo32. Contact Dell with model for specific firmware.Ttype86

@anne_droid
thanks. I’ve done all of this. When I toggle on tpm in my bios, it won’t stay enabled. I save and exit but when I go back into the bios, it will always show disabled once I get back in. I have verified everything else. I updated the bios to the latest update. In run dialog, when I type tpm.msc, it doesn’t find rpm at all. But in my bios under security, it shows the rpm feature as “firmware TPM” and allows me to toggle it to enabled. It just won’t stay enabled once saved.

is the system running in UEFI mode (not with Legacy/CSM active)?
Is the OS installed to a GPT (not MBR) partition?

@ejn63 Yes, and yes. It’s so frustrating. I’ve been stuck here for 2 days trying to figure this out and run updates etc.

sounds like there's some flea power stuck on the tpm module
