17 R4, bios and igpu
hi
a while ago I updated my bios, and it caused issues for my igpu and now i cant update it and whenever I try the system crashes and black screens.
how do I fix this issue since not updating my igpu(intel r 630 hd) and just using the generic Microsoft driver causes low fps?

@dell alienware 17r4 Just out of curiosity try the Intel driver. I have had good luck using their drivers in the past.

@dell alienware 17r4 - Is this an Alienware PC?
Do you get an error message when trying to update the Intel Graphics driver from the Dell site? If you have/use AMD or NVidia video in this PC do you really need to update the Intel driver?

@RoHe sry its laptop not a pc
ever since it changed to generic intel driver, games run slow, and my discrete graphics card even though i set my games to use the NVidia the games are still slow.

Can you use the "Roll Back" button in Device Manager for the Intel Graphics driver to roll it back to the prior version and see if that helps? Or, just download an older version from the Dell page for Alienware 17R4 drivers.
You may also want to try this in case there's some Windows problem:
If none of that helps, try disabling the Intel Graphics adapter in Device Manager. Then reboot and test again...

Manually set a System Restore point to be safe.
Next, open the Windows Add/Remove screen. Click Apps/Features in left column. Scroll down right column looking for Intel Graphics Command Center. Assuming it's listed, select it to be uninstalled. Don't uninstall anything else. Then reboot.
Now go to the Intel Download Center and download/install Intel's Driver & Support Assistant. Run that and let it scan your hardware and see what it offers.
If it offers Intel chipset drivers, etc, install them before installing the Intel video driver, assuming it gives you the option to select drivers one at a time.
Reboot when that's all done and see if things are working now...
