17 R1, randomly turns off when gaming

So I have a Alienware 17 R1 from 2013 and I've upgraded the GPU to GTX 1070,the CPU is i7-4710MQ, adapter is 240w,there's some problem I encountered recently, which is PC randomly turns off when gaming with no signs of overheating.I suspect maybe a 240w adapter not enough to power the GPU stably?btw I'm also thinking to upgrade the CPU to i7-4940mx.So can some of you folks help me with this?

So the problem seems to be solved by unplug the battery, which is indicating the battery is failing.Right now no more randomly shuts down.Only need a replacement battery, which is good,I thought the problem would be much more severe.Problem solved!

I suspect overheating. I know you don't but it's a good probable cause. Especially if it's recently started? It could be the VRM's that's overheating if it's not the CPU / GPU.

Use a hoover on the vents or compressed air can on the heatsinks.

@Atomfix Thanks for the reply, but I really don't think my laptop is overheating, cuz the my gpu heatsink is a custom one made of cooper, the vrams and vrms and properly covered under cooling pad, currently my CPU and GPU never have temperatures over 80 degree,I also checked my ssd temperature also pretty good

The system shouldn't shut off when on mains power with a bad battery installed but if removing the battery has fixed the problem then that should be it. It sounds a little strange though.

Hopefully you don't have any issues when you install a replacement battery. Aftermarket batteries for these aren't always great quality but they will be better than nothing.
