15 R1, keyboard clip needed
Hi everyone at Dell Community,
I've lost my clip for my keyboard membrane cable in my Alienware 15 R1 (2014) and I don't know where to find one.
please let me know where I can find one or even possibly ask dell for a clip because its such an inexpensive thing to replace.
I love this laptop to death since it was my first laptop given to me by my father when I never had a computer before that.
@DELL-Chris M @Inactive Dell-BradL I apologize for messaging alot too, I just need to get this fixed.
*NOTE: I am NOT a Dell employee, But I am a Community Rockstar*
Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!

@Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 Correct. The clips were never given a Dell part number. So Dell cannot sell them. The clips are on the cable, not a separate item. There is no listing for keyboard cabling in the Dell spare parts page.

If you are referring to "clips" that shipped on the motherboard, we cannot get them.
If you are referring to clips on end of cabling itself, we would have to check the SPMD to see if the cables are available. What are the cable 5 digit part numbers?

That part isn't going to be available from Dell -- if you're referring to the cable lock, it comes only with a system board. Maybe an EBay parts seller would have one, or look for an otherwise faulty mainboard that has the part you need and salvage it.

I found one EDP cable but Dell never offered it for sale. The clips are on the cable, not a separate item. There is no listing for keyboard cabling. Also, Dell only has available parts for about 6 years from a system release date. That is 9 years old. Nothing Dell can do.

@DELL-Chris M would it be possible for an alienware 15 r5 to have the same keyboard motherboard membrane clip like the 15 r1? should be the same and more recent

@Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 Unknown. A m15 R5 user would have to post a picture showing the clips like you did.

This is my verification for the m15 r5, i think its standard across most alienware products.

OK, so in theory you could search on eBay for 15 R1 or m15 R5 user selling the clips from a broken one for parts.

@DELL-Chris M so to call dell and ask for the part would be out of the question 🤔?
