QD-OLED Peak-1000 fixed on MSI monitors, will Dell Alienware follow?
MSI are releasing new firmware for their QD-OLED lineup which effectively fixes Peak-1000 mode EOTF tracking completely, according to tftcentral testing..
Will Dell follow-suit by updating their QD-OLED lineup (AW3225QF, AW2725DF, AW3423DWF, etc.), or will we continue to be left without any firmware updates?

We now know from Hardware Unboxed's video release today that MSI has not fixed this issue. MSI is essentially trying to hack their way around the inherent behavior of Samsung's displays.
tl;dr
Use HDR400. Peak HDR1000 is the best you're going to get. The tech isn't there yet.

Marking this as a solution for visibility purposes only. Please note that it is still in progress.

Flagship products are an active consumer base. Word travels like wildfire. If you update merchant reviews it'll get higher engagement.
That said, it's up to the Alienware engineers to do the right thing and listen to the voice of the customer.

Are the monitor engineers even working at DELL anymore? I think most of them lost their jobs last year. It started so good with the AW3225QF and the constant firmware updates and then.... radio silence...

At least they are trying and listening to their community. DELL cannot even add a simple DSC toggle or fix the 2.2 gamma issue.
Working as intended. Nothing to see here ladies and gents. Go and buy our new 27 inch 4K QD-OLED with the same firmware as the AW3225QF. Thanks!

@GroundReaper94 Imagine them releasing that 4k 27 inch qd oled with the same bugs and issues like ours 😂

It most probably will 😂
I would really like to laugh, but this makes me really sad and mad at the same time.
I also find it funny that DELL refuses to add a KVM switch and an USB-C with DP Alt mode to their flagship models. But what do I even expect? We do not even get a DSC toggle. 😂

@GroundReaper94 there is a way to turn off dsc though, enabling legacy device under the console mode settings turn off the dsc and it limits the screen to 120hz
But yea thats not practical as a dsc toggle.

I am closing this post since as the title suggests, it was specifically about MSI's purported fix to HDR Peak 1000, which turned out to not be as ideal as we no doubt hoped.
I still have my issues with how Dell has handled firmware updates for their third-gen QD-OLED panels, but I will leave those discussions for more appropriate topics.
Thank you all for contributing! I hope Dell addresses DSC-toggling, gamma 2.2 and acknowledges that Peak 1000 is actually broken, whilst at least attempting to resolve it somehow.

I know, but it is really annoying to do so and also limits you to 120 Hz. :(
There is also an option to add a custom resolution and still use it with Console Mode off at 240 Hz, but that only works with SDR. As soon as I switch my monitor to HDR, the custom resolutions disappear until I disable HDR again. Very annoying.
I really like the simulated 27 inch mode for shooters, but the picture is relatively dim compared to TB400.
That is also the reason why I now own a 27 inch 360 Hz QD-OLED from ASUS. That thing is superb and even has the brightness hack for HDR1000. I know, the picture is overblown, but it gets the job done for my shooter games and RTX HDR. 🙂
It also has an option to turn off uniform brightness in SDR, which is also a really great feature. The auto dimming is almost not noticeable in Windows Dark Mode and gives much more brightness in SDR. Surely a nice option to have. 👍

@GroundReaper94 Isnt the dsc toggle on Msi and asus limits the screen to 120hz?As far i know even with toggle its limited to 120hz because of bandwith.
I dont play shooters anymore that much, that's why i bought a 4k monitor mostly playing single player titles, but occasionally some single player shooters aswell, dont have anymore time to be competitive😅

Yes, but you can at least use DSR, custom resolutions and Integer Scaling for a perfect 1080p picture.
Also, with DSC off and HDMI 2.1, you should be able to use 4K at up to 156 Hz or something close that number.
I would have to test if the custom resolutions are taken over to DSC on mode. Thank god I can do that with my ASUS QD-OLED.

I want to try to turn off dsc through legacy mode and try to use DSR to test on some older games,im just curious how it works with the console mode.

I still have my AW3225QF for the PS5 Pro and my Singleplayer/COOP games. It is still a great monitor, but lacks a few essential features.
Everything works fine with Legacy Mode, but it is capped to 120 Hz.
Use the two options at the top, when you select your DSR options. 1.78 and 2.25 are the right ones. It is like a really nice AA solution for older games. You can even combine it with DLSS. I would only recommend it for 1440p monitors or older games because you need a lot of GPU power for it.
