No AMD CPUs for Alienware Desktops?
Hi,
I am just wondering why AW desktops do not use AMD CPUs?
The new Area-51s use the Intel 285K CPU and the CPU performance is not great compared with Aurora i9-14900KF.
Someones said that the 285K is for the content creators not for gaming.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.

You can read the reviews and decide for yourself -- if you want Alienware, you get Intel. If you want AMD, you need to look elsewhere, or build your own system.

<Please keep conversation civil and respectful. DELL-Admin>
There have been alienware desktop with ryzen CPU's, and I actually own one which I bought a few years back, they maybe don't do it for every product launch, but it's not this complete impossibility that you are implying here.
To the original poster, I have personally talked to sales reps and have gotten mixed messages about possibly some AMD ryzen models coming later on, and also I have seen some reddit threads mentioning the same.
We will have to wait and see but I will certainly hope, seeing as the current intel processors are the pillar of mediocrity gaming wise.

It's as helpful as any speculation about what Dell might or might not release in the future. There have indeed been AMD-based Alienware systems in the past, but not for some time. Couple that with one of Dell's major financial backers being Intel and there is no doubt financial incentive for Dell to keep the Alienware line (as it has the XPS models) Intel-based.
There are plenty of AMD options out there - none Alienware at the moment.

Considering the dire shape Intel is currently in, I would be looking for alternatives now rather than waiting to see what happens and possibly having to scramble last minute...
