How many do a fresh OS install during first setup?

How much bloatware is pre-installed on the R16? Is there anything I can't re-install that is useful?

Thinking about a fresh Win 11 install and update to start out clean and lean.

you can do a clean install of Win 11 and you do not need any of the Dell's bloatware especially SA.  AWCC controls led but the case may just turn on default LED color without AWCC.

Even with a clean installation, you will find you will end up with Alienware services that are silently installed by Windows update.

It's like impossible to get rid of it as Windows keep reinstalling it.

Dell client management service

Dell TechHub

Only Dell item is my monitor.

Enables Dell applications to manage Dell specific features of the system. If this service is stopped, any services that explicitly depend on it will cause this service to be restarted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to function.

Foundational service managing Dell applications through Dell TechHub

Both services are running with automatic start-up. Even disabling them will turn them back on, and removing them will cause them to be reinstalled.

There's no way to get rid of them that I am aware off.

Every of mine and relatives computers, new or used, I updated the hardware with the desire specs and performed a clean Windows installation.  Not only to get rid of unwanted software, bloatware, I could set up and customize accounts to meet user(s) preferences and needs, personal and works.  Can't say the same for new users.  They will need anything that can help with setup, daily usage, and maintenance.

While some are considered bloatware, others might be valuable and necessary to have.  Some of the apps that work well for me but have not for others.  As mentioned by Vanadiel, AWCC and its services.  Others such as Killer services and Realtek audio interface, Waves Maxx Audio can't be removed.  But, they can be customized and could improved the performance of the system, bringing better experiences to the user.  Some do not like it because of issues, mostly caused by Windows settings conflicts.

have you noticed that MS driver works "fine" most of the time. I am referring to MS video, audio, wireless, ethernet drivers which are essential for pc function.  ever since Win 7 I noticed I did not need to manually install any Dell recommended drivers.  In the days of Win 10 and 11 this is becoming more true (at the expense of gigantic OS size on hdd).

Just the other day Win 7 installed "standard VAG adapter" on one of my older dell automatically.  I find the resolution fine.  nothing to complain.  I later installed Intel specific G33 driver w all the fancy Intel fanfare.  to my perception no difference in video quality on desktop screen.

Only drivers that say Microsoft name in title are Microsoft drivers, mostly are just basic.  Every other drivers installed by Microsoft installer or through updates with specific names are actually came from devices manufacturers.  They were uploaded to Microsoft through a testing and validation portal required by Microsoft.

While Microsoft basic drivers can get a system up and running, specific device driver will perform better in most cases.

that was actually what I meant that the MS installed drivers though did not have to specifically say the name often work just fine, such as AMD or Nvidia drivers.  the point is in most of cases no need to install any Dell driver

It would be true for more recent models.  For legacy models (old), it would help to install the chipset driver first for MS updates to find and match the closest device drivers, although may not be the latest.  Your input still provide a very good method and important part of a clean Windows installation process that OP is seeking in the query.
