Dell RTX 4080 Super for another PC build?

Hello everyone,

I'm planning on building a new PC and using the GPU (RTX 4080 Super) from my Alienware R16. However, I have a couple of questions. Are these GPUs OEM? If so, will I be able to use this GPU in another build?

Also, I noticed in Dell's instructions for removing the GPU, they don't mention removing any screws from the GPU itself. Most GPUs have a bracket that allows you to secure them to the PC case with screws, but the GPUs in the R16 don't seem to have this option. This makes me wonder if I'll be able to secure the GPU to my new PC case. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

it is standard.  there is no such thing as Dell proprietary metal bracket.  even though Dell case is proprietary it still has to follow the standard of GPU hardware installation.  a screw hole is provided but some Dell cases has a plate that secures the bracket without need for screw.  this was used in multiple XPS and other Dell model and nothing new

Those are universal. The 2 forks at the bottom mean it's a 2 slot card, so it occupies 2 slots in a case.

I have one with 4 forks, so it needs a lot of space.

It's actually so big and heavy it requires a special bracket.

This bracket is specific to that video card model, and Dell does not have such a bracket.

You should have no issues fitting it into any retail ATX form factor case out there.

These are OEM design. There's no separate bracket to support it, although I think they supplied or maybe still supply a bracket at the end of the video card to help support it.

That would be an OEM bracket and would not directly fit into any other case.

You would have to source a support bracket from Amazon if you need one.

@Vanadiel thanks so much for your response. Maybe I used the wrong term. I didn’t mean the piece that supports the gpu, but the metal plate. I wonder if those are also designed for only Dell cases or if they’re more universal.

@Gabo864 I would say that is a normal plate. Spacing looks correct and it doesn't hurt to try it.

Just curious why you are scavenging parts from a fairly new system? Unless it's a broken Intel system and you are going AMD...

@irsh_

i got this R16 through work at a very good discount and I’ve had it for about a year or so. I decided to give my nephew this system and build myself a new pc. I’m not giving the R16 to my nephew until March next year, so I plan to use this GPU until I decide what to get when Nvidia releases their new GPUs next year.

I already built my pc with the 9800x3D CPU, and the 4080 super from the R16 and it’s working great so far.
