AW3423DWF, settings and questions
I got this monitor (Dell Alienware AW3423DWF) and started digging into its features a bit. I have a few questions for fellow owners.
Burn-in Protection
Regarding this topic, I have no idea what the monitor does or doesn’t do, because the settings only include pixel refresh and panel refresh. Everything else is either handled automatically or not available. Missing settings that are often discussed:
Pixel orbiting
Screen saver
Logo protection
Taskbar dimming
Default 165Hz 10-bit HDR Issue
For some reason, the monitor doesn’t support 165Hz 10-bit HDR by default. This can be solved with a custom resolution, but why? Monitors with the same panel and DisplayPort don’t have this limitation. Who’s using this setup, and what are your experiences?
Color Profiles and Calibration
The monitor comes with a calibration log from a probe, and according to Rtings, its color accuracy is very high.
RTings Review
However, everything is limited to the sRGB color space. What if someone wants to use the oversaturated “OLED-like” colors?
So far, the standard mode + ICC profile from Rtings seems to work well. The profile is for SDR.
HDR Handling
When HDR is enabled, Windows manages the colors its own way, which gets a lot of criticism—it’s barely usable outside of games or movies. But what about an ICC profile that enables HDR (allowing up to 1000 nits) without messing up the colors?
Text Clarity
When I first unpacked the monitor, I was honestly a bit shocked. After a few hours, I stopped noticing it. Has anyone adjusted fonts specifically for this type of OLED matrix? Do you use any text modifications to reduce the visibility of the RGB subpixel breakup? For example:

I seem to have found a bug in the monitor. Specifically, if I have two sources connected to it and one of them has a screen saver set, which causes the monitor to dim to the lowest brightness, it still does this even when the second source is active. That’s a bit inconvenient.
Let me explain a bit— I use the monitor for both work and entertainment. When my desktop computer is on and the screen saver activates, but I’m using the monitor with a source from my work laptop, the monitor still dims to the lowest brightness. Why does this happen?
