AW3423DWF, G5 5590, DDPM not working

Like Iceman, just installed this today & uninstalled again after 10 mins of main display flickering and reverting to standard each time I tried to turn on smartHDR. Seem the updates put out the last few days didn't really prepare anything for this. Much re-arranging of icons & reconfiguring settings. Oh well, back to reliable DDM2.
