AW3423DW still does not wake from standby after firmware M0B106
I have had this monitor since May of 2022. Only just in the past couple weeks have I encountered the notorious standby issue. With each time seemingly becoming worse. I spent almost an hour this morning turning on and off my pc. As well as unplugging the monitor from the wall over and over.
The monitors firmware is up to date, I did the process just earlier this week when I found out you can even do that. I previously thought that was impossible, so I was ecstatic to find out that I may have found the solutions to all my problems. Nevertheless I was wrong. This morning really irked me. I had just a bit of time to use my pc and instead it was spent troubleshooting.
At this point not sure what to do. Randomly when I go to turn on my system the monitor will say searching for signal and go into standby without recognizing any sources. Doesn't matter if it's set to Auto or DP. It will show my red light I have set custom but drop into standby white light after a second. If I press the power button it cycles into Pixel Refresh green.
I have to press the power button twice to turn it back on; once it seems, to stop the Pixel Refresh cycle and then a second time to actually power it on. That hasn't ever worked in making it recognize a signal. So I resort to unplugging from the wall. 15 seconds at a time or 5 minutes at a time neither seemed to make a difference. Powering off my whole system including unplugging my monitor from the wall several times seems to be only thing that does the trick for me.
- I have tried different ports
- Installed both driver and firmware updates from Dell
- NVIDIA and Windows drivers are up to date
- I am using the supplied DP cable plugged into my EVGA 3080 XC3
- Firmware shows M0B106
- Windows 10 with power settings at High Performance
- Eco mode on monitor is off
From what I've read it happens on Windows 10 or 11. On many different video cards. Variable set ups all with the same issue, this monitor not waking from standby. I really don't want to go through a replacement process as I am afraid I'll just run into this issue again even farther down the line as I have had this monitor for two years before this even started happening. Is there anyone else having this issue even after updating firmware? Thanks to anyone willing to chime in. Any help is appreciated. I'm losing my mind trying to find a solution.

Hi there,
Hope this helps…
Unfortunately there is no solution to the problem you are experiencing. I created a post not long ago regarding the same issue. The only solution is to RMA the monitor if you still have the active warranty.
However from monitoring this topic for months on different platforms, there are tons of people that have this issue. Most have just accepted power cycling and are dealing with this issue. This is because the rma process is not worth it To some. Many have gone through multiple monitors that seem to have the same issue months later. Dell does have great rma process but you are getting a ticking time bomb on the same issue potentially. Not to mention it’s a refurbished unit that could have cosmetic issues and scratches on the screen.
I still haven’t gone through the rma on my end and it would be my 4th monitor. Two for different issues and 2 for the issue you are seeing.
If it truly bothers you I would definitely just rma the unit and hope the replacement doesn’t have the issue. If it does you can cross that bridge when you get to it.
Im hoping dell/alienware can address this issue through another software update but for now they haven’t been transparent on what the cause is.
All the best!
