AW3423DS freezing on standby
Hi,
I am having frequent freezing on standby on my AW3423DW monitor. The only way to turn it back on is to power cycle the monitor.The monitor has been running fine since my firmware update back in December 2023 (MB106). However starting in June of this year its been freezing on standby. It used to happen rarely but now its 1-2 times a day (Past few weeks).
Anyone know what is causing this issue? I am seeing alot of posts about it but most suggest to RMA the monitor. Some have posted that the rma units tend to have the same issue down the line as well.
Perhaps its due to a windows/nvidia driver issue? I guess i am trying to understand if its an OS/GPu issue or if its a hardware issue on the monitor.
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

When you say "freezing" is the picture frozen, or is it a black screen?

@Vanadiel
freezing meaning the screen is black. It seems the monitor tries to get out of sleep and as it does it gets stuck. The led on the power button flashes. All the buttons become unusable as well. So you need to power cycle the monitor.

It sounds like your AW3423DW monitor’s freezing issue might be related to a software or hardware glitch. Here are some steps to try:
1. Update: Ensure Windows, NVIDIA drivers, and monitor firmware are up to date.
2. Rollback: If the problem started after an update, try rolling back your NVIDIA driver.
3. Power Settings: Adjust power settings in both Windows and the monitor.
4. Cables/Ports: Switch cables or ports (e.g., HDMI to DisplayPort).
5. RMA: Consider an RMA if the issue persists, but be aware of similar reports from other users.
These steps should help narrow down the cause.

@AlexWhales
Hi Alex,
thanks for the suggestions.
Regarding your steps.
1/2. I have kept windows up to date as well as nvidia drivers. I have rolled back a few times on the nvidia drivers but did not fix the issue.
3. power settings were adjusted as well and no fix there. Tried different combinations and settings.
4. I don’t suspect cables are the issue but still ended up trying another power cord as well as a display port cable. Same issue.
5. RMA is most likely my only option left. Although it seems like I will be rolling the dice for a similar issue down the line.
Thanks again for your help!
