AW3225QF, HDR issues when wake or turn
Alienware 32 4K QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW3225QF
I’m running into a really annoying issue with my AW3225QF monitor, and I’m not sure if it’s a hardware defect or something tied to Windows 11 24H2. The problem happens every time I turn on my PC or wake it from sleep/standby mode. The colors on the AW3225QF look completely messed up, and the brightness in the Windows HDR calibration tool is way off.
To fix it, I have to toggle HDR off and on again manually, and sometimes I even need to restart the PC to get things back to normal.
For context, I’m using a dual-monitor setup. The second monitor doesn’t support HDR, but I’m not sure if that’s contributing to the issue or just a coincidence.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to capture the color difference in a way that’s noticeable in photos, but trust me—the colors look terrible. However, I’ll attach a photo of the brightness issue instead. For reference, I’m using True Black mode, where the max brightness should be around 450 nits. Instead, it’s shooting past 2000 nits, and you can still see the square from the calibration tool, which shouldn’t happen.
I’ve already reached out to Dell support, but they couldn’t help. Has anyone else dealt with this or found a solution? Any advice would be super helpful!

@Petrarca22
I am using the IPS monitor on HDMI and the Alienware on DisplayPort. It seems to happen even more frequently if I use both on DisplayPort.

Strange, when I moved secondary monitor to hdmi I solved this problem. Sometime also helps switching between tb400 and p1000 modes.

If you can I'd suggest to use hdmi only with this monitor, then enable console mode on and source tone mapping on, this will enable hgig mode and always will clip to 1000 nits.
I recommend this because many games like play station ones doesn't map hdr correctly

I'm also having this problem, I've been trying to fix it for a while but haven't been lucky.
