AW2725DF, brightness inconsistent in SDR, corners are darker (like a vignette effect) in "custom color" preset
Got this monitor recently and calibration went well here. Currently using Custom Color preset, but I realized it has a problem:
The brightness changes according what is being shown in the screen. (I use it exclusively in SDR)
For example, when showing a predominantly white image in full screen (i.e. outlook web page or notepad (light theme)), the corners are visibly darker than the center of the screen.
This is very distracting, and can easily be seen
There's also subtle changes to brightness not easily caught by eye.
For example, a small white square in the center has its brightness affected depending on what is shown around it. It's possible to measure it with a colorimeter (or even a simple android application).
The oddly part is sRGB doesn't have this problem.
Will it be addressed in a future update?
I watched some reviews that say it's a logo dimming feature, but I wonder if it really is as sRGB doesn't have this wonderful "feature".
I really hope it's a problem (and not by design), because sRGB preset doesn't present this behaviour.

Inconsistent brightness on the Dell Alienware 2725DF in SDR can be due to some of the following reasons.
These are some factors that can cause the brightness inconsistency.

Just got this monitor and noticed that as well....
Custom Color is the best preset IMO. Best part is it's configurable, you can adjust RGB levels. The colors are nice and more "alive" is comparated to sRGB preset.
I've measured the luminance difference in a full white background.
My room is not well-lit, so I use a low brightness setting.
The center of the screen has 50 nits, while the bottom right corner has 40 nits.
(Please note the center of the screen is the brightest point)
So difference here is around 10 nits between the center and the corner.
Has anyone from Dell acknowledged this issue?

No, it can't be a feature....
Can't believe we pay a premium price in a monitor for it to have such a bummer.
We need a fix for this problem! This effect is really distracting, and it needs a fix!

At this point, I doubt Dell will do anything about this.
There's more popular issues that still don't have a fix.
For example, the DSC toggle issue was acknowledged and is supposed to be fixed by a firmware we don't know when (or if) it will arrive.

Mine arrived today. I couldn't stand sRGB gamma and it's washed out look, so went Custom Color as well.
Man, colors and gamma are so nice, but this brightness issue ruins it.
I mean, Custom Color would be the perfect preset if not by this problem.
Why do this companies always do something on purpose to avoid having something perfect in a product?
sRGB don't have this problem...I've done some tests and it seems like sRGB is the only preset where brightness remains consistent in SDR.
Can anyone from Dell escalate this to Dell Displays team?

I suspect there are multiple anti burn-in features kicking in. Features user don't have any control over.
In the same way pixel shift is there (and you can't disable it), probably there are features dimming screen borders, and also dimming screen center under some specific patterns.
sRGB is free from everything, except pixel shift.
At this point, now I'm afraid Dell "fixes" the problem by applying everything to sRGB preset as well (instead disabling it for "custom color" preset or give user the choice)
Hope I'm wrong.
