Aurora R9, I7-9700, change to liquid AIO?
I’m wanting to change the air cooler to a liquid aio and found a decent one. But I was wondering if the motherboard comes out the case cos some are glued and if the backplate can be removed and swapped to a different one?

the backplate can be removed but you would need a new generic backplate to secure the ILM. The Dell back plate with m3 studs are fastened to ILM (which locks CPU in socket) via three torx screws. when you remove the Dell backplate, the ILM comes loose too.
the Dell backplate is not glued to backside of board. https://www.ebay.com/p/7068145806
water cooler backplate does not fasten ILM.

Corsair H60 was the one that Dell users found can be directly installed on Dell M3 backplate. Many other AIOs need to use their own proprietary backplate.

@redxps630 thanks I think the cooler master liquid 120L core 120mm fits aswell without needing to change the backplate

you are correct. user report :
The ML120L is supplied with some chunky double-ended M3 standoffs & thumb nuts, and these are absolutely idea and make for a very neat install.

Fitting was much the same as with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO inasmuch as you discard most of the fitting kit and screw directly into the motherboard’s backplate, using your own standoffs or long M3 screws, as desired.

@redxps630
Did you get any bios errors or anything? I'm hoping to upgrade to a liquid cooled water cooler two.
Where did you plug the two headers into , maybe not the right phrase but I mean the fan or cpu pump head?

@AnthonyRebel The radiator fan connects to motherboard header TOP_FAN and the pump power connects to motherboard hearer CPU_FAN. To reduce the risk of startup error, consider replacing the radiator fan with LINK Arctic P12 Max PWM fans
