Aurora R8, cables for 850W PSU

I want to upgrade the 450W PSU in my Aurora R8, so I bought a 850W PSU from Dell (the 9XG5C). The problem is, it's a modular PSU and didn't come with any cables. My old PSU is non-modular, so I can't reuse the cables. How do I know what cables to use? And where can I even buy them? Dell doesn't seem to sell them, and I've read that you can't just use cables from other manufacturers even if they have the same connectors.

Tell Dell your new PSU will not work without cables and get your money back . . . buy from eBay with cables

Why not upgrading straight to ATX 3.0 power supply with fully modular and 12VHPWR power connectors for supporting RTX 4000 series.

@Chino de Oro    the highest level processor for the Aurora R8 is the i9-9900K . . . which is in a different league than the RTX 4000 series graphics cards

@ProfessorW00d , I saw that you already responded to OP with a link to a Dell OEM power supply.  But, it's a non-modular unit, not a cable management friendly.  I have a different suggestion and my comment provided a link to selections of ATX 3.0 modular power supplies, mostly with 850w, the same power as the PSU OP has issue with in the query of this thread.

The mentioning of the new 12VHPWR graphics power connectors type used in the new RTX 4000 series was to inform OP about the feature available from these new power supplies.

In other word, the suggestion to OP was, why not upgrading straight to the latest ATX 3.0 power supply with the latest features and the new and improved power management.  They also have the new power connectors for the latest graphics cards such as RTX 4000 series for future use.  They are not much more expensive than the Dell OEM unit.  But of course, it's only a suggestion and is up to OP to consider.

Not understanding the reason you want to tell me about machine specs.  Is it relate to my power supply suggestion?  Are these power supply not compatible with the R8???  I think that if OP old power supply is 450w, it does not matter what league the CPU was in and certainly OP does not have a 4000 series card in there.  Regardless, one of these power supply will be a good choice for upgrade and it should/will work.

I am thinking, why the upgrade? OP never mentioned why.

If the 450 Watt works fine, I would not bother upgrading.

If it's for a graphical card upgrade or some other upgrade, I would look to see what the actual power requirements are before selecting an upgrade.

If it's for a future upgrade, considering the age of the machine, I would not bother upgrading either.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I'm upgrading is that I bought a RTX 3070, and it needs more power than I have now. I realize some would probably upgrade the entire computer, but I'd like to get a few more years out of it.

Does the choice of a RTX 3070 influence which option is better for upgrading the PSU (Dell OEM power supply vs. ATX 3.0 modular)?

@Prandall    either will work

The Dell OEM 850 watt PSU is fully modular. If you choose something else, make sure it includes a second EPS 8-pin cable to connect to GPU_PWR motherboard header.

@Prandall Just make sure the video card first in the R8 enclosure. On some of these systems there's a tight restriction on card length.

You might want to check on that before you purchase the card, to make sure it will fit inside the case.
