Aurora R7, turn on an off immediately, cannot see the bios screen
Hey guys, I was trying to install i3-9100 CPU into my aurora r7.
I made a mistake and did not check the supported cpu list, Some reason I was assuming it will work just fine.
Anyways, after installing the CPU, When I push on the power button, the computer turns on and off immediately.
After that, I installed the old working CPU. But the computer is still on and off immediately.
I did not change anything else, just cpu.
I removed the CMOS battery and did the CMOS jumper reset, but that did not help.
When I push the power supply test button, I can see there is power.
What else I can try?

Even though the chipset on the R7 supports the i3 9100 that does not mean the BIOS does. I would pull the CPU and closely examine the CPU socket for any signs of bent pins.

R7 bios supports 8th gen cpu only. R8 bios supports both 8 and 9th gen cpu. both have Z370 chipset but Dell often does this trick: update bios on same motherboard and market it as a new model.
JOcean has a good point of cpu socket. at this point just leave the old cpu seated too many times servicing the socket increases risk of further untoward damage. unplug power and press power button for 30 sec to drain flea power. maybe leave it alone for a few hours then try again.

Thanks, guys, Yes one of the pins was bent, I use a magnifier and a needle to bend it back on. Now it is working with the old CPU. I was looking for a new board today, you guys saved me from so much hassle.
Cheers!

What BIOS update? I have an R7 and just curious what CPU did yours come with?
I have the i7-8700k you could easily buy this CPU and install. Its better/faster the the i3-9100. I can't go any higher than the 8700k because of my BIOS. this was a huge issue a few years ago with this model. I've yet to upgrade to a newer model. I installed a 2080Ti and no issues with any games and settings i throw at it.

The latest bios update from Dell website 1.0.18
Actually, What I did was a downgrade, Aurora r7 came with an i7-8700k, My brother gave me an i3-9100, mainboard, and memory, and I got a new PSU, Nvidia RTX 4090, and build a new machine with the i7-8700 from the old machine. It is working great right now.
Although, Aurora r7 with i3-9100 slowdown and crashes during windows updates, I will probably need to reinstall windows after I am done with the migration.

Just to ask,. Will the R8 bios work in the R7 i5 8400 if i flashed it,. Your comment seems to suggest it would,. I just wanted to be clear?

You keep saying "mainboard" with no further specifics. An Intel 9th Gen processor will not work on the Aurora R7 OEM motherboard. What "mainboard" did your brother give you that supports a 9th Gen Intel processor?

i3-9100 currently working with Aurora R7. Everything works except I can not install the Windows updates, I will try installing fresh windows and see if that helps. Otherwise, I will purchase a compatible CPU.
My brother's Mainboard brand or model is not related to the topic here, but if you are really curious it is Gigabyte z390 ud.
Thanks for all the responses and help guys, specially JOcean saved the day.
