Aurora R16, upgrading power supply to 1350w

Saw a post from someone with an Aurora r16 who upgraded the power supply from a 500w to a 1350w, their system was fine. Need to know a trusted source for a 1350w any help would be greatly appreciated!

Specs: i7 14700f

32 GB DDR5

4070 Super

PSU: 1000w

you probably do not need 1350w.  it is overkill.  your 1000w psu Dell oem is good enough.

@redxps630 thx for reply, have a 4080 super requiring 3 GPU power cables which my current PSU doesn't have hence asking for a source.

1000w: 10+4+4 white MB, 2x (8 pin and 6+2 pin) PCIe black,

1350w: 12+4+4+4 white MB, 2x (8 pin and 6+2 pin) PCIe black.

1000w 10 pin does not conform to ATX12VO.

1350w 12 pin = 10 pin + 2 extra pin 12V/Gnd.

in terms of PCIe connectors, the 1000w and 1350w are the same.  both have 2x (8 pin and 6+2 pin) PCIe black.

the 1350w can supply more current/power through the same PCIe connectors

Plenty of people running 4090's on 1000w.

R16 uses the new ATX12VO standard, so it comes with a PSU that only outputs 12Volt on all the cables.

On top of that they use a custom pin for the main 12VO connector.

Just did it.  Put the 1350w into my r16.  Works perfect.  One extra 6+2 pin for the RTX 5090

@redxps630 Great info here, but unfortunately the 1000w only has 2x (8 pin and 6 pin) PCIe black not (8 pin and 6+2). I just bought the 1000w directly from Dell since I bought a 5080 and needed more power. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-1000w-power-supply/apd/cpx-rd0g0/computer-chassis-components

The PSU just arrived today. I'm disappointed that it has the exact same PCIe cables as the 750W I replaced. Unfortunately I'm going to have to use a dual 6pin to 8 pin adapter since the 5080 requires three 8 pins.

That's how my 1000w PSU was connected to the original RTX 5090 in mine.  With the adapter..

@rickstervt Thanks for the info, I'm hoping that it works. I actually emailed Dell about buying a 1350 watt, and they basically said that it doesn't exist. I guess all the 1350 watt psus available on ebay, aliexpress etc are unofficial? I'm a bit confused about that

You can get the dell branded psu from eBay for $186. New.  That’s where I got mine and it has 4 8 pin connectors.  I’ll send you the link later

@rickstervt I'd appreciate that. Looks like we were in a similar situation (although your gpu is even better than mine), and the 1350 seems to have worked out for you. I might try the adapter for a few weeks and monitor it's performance, but I'll likely buy a 1350w

It does exist, they probably don't make it anymore.  It was in the R15's before the Aurora 16.  Here's the link.  Works perfectly and you'll have more overhead for upgrades later.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/356240322071

@rickstervt Thanks for the help. The adapter seems to be working okay, I'm playing FF7 Rebirth at 4k 120fps with no issues, but I'll definitely upgrade to 1350 when I find a reliable seller on ebay.
