Aurora R16, story of replacing a failing 2TB NVMe SSD
My 15-month-old Aurora R16 desktop was booting into a BSD with a Windows stop code. After several hours of talks and attempts to fix it, Dell Support thought the NV Me drive was bad and instructed me to take it to one of their recommended repair businesses. Unfortunately for me, the repair person was able to load a Windows boot program on the old drive, but he didn't test it because of course my computer failed again after booting up.
At this point I decided I would buy a new drive and install it myself. Problem was I had no means of booting the computer to install Windows. Yes, I could have made my own boot USB, unfortunately my laptop decided to die in sympathy with the desktop.
Anyway, I decided I would look around Amazon and see if they sold any kind of USB boot drive. Sure enough, I found one and after much playing around, I was able to get Windows loading.
I installed a WD Black 4TB drive and I have been up and happily running with no issues for 1 week. I monitor the drive's temperature daily, and I have also upgraded my uninterruptible power supply, hoping to quell any more electrical or drive problems.
