Aurora R16, Nvidia drivers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 6
Alienware Aurora R16
Hello, when I launch the game, it recommends that I upgrade my Nvidia drivers to a newer GPU driver. But the Dell Support Site doesn't a have a newer video driver. I have 556.12 and the game needs 560.70. Can I download the newer GPU driver directly Nvidia's website, or do I need to wait until Dell releases a newer driver? I have an Nvidia RTX 4080 Super GPU. Thank you.

if it is just a recommendation and you can still run the game w current driver then I would stay put. you do not know whether the newest nvidia driver will or will not install and run smoothly on the pc. not worth risking a bad upgrade

Thanks for the reply. The version that the game is recommending isn’t the newest one. It’s the version that came out around July of this year. The driver version I have on my Alienware came out in June of this year.
How often does Dell update the Nvidia drivers?

sounds like the two versions are quite close. I do not know how often Dell updates. but we have heard anecdotes of new driver update installed automatically by Windows or SupportAssist causing issue sometimes.

Okay, Dell does not recommend downloading drivers directly from the manufacturer's website as shown here:

The Dell driver release schedule is found below. Looks like I can expect an updated Nvidia Driver on Nov. 12th (2nd Tues.)

Dell recommendation is correct. Nvidia driver has not been specifically validated by Dell engineers on Dell desktop pc regarding specific model.

I think the whole OEM versus manufacturer drivers is overblown. I have never had an issue installing manufacturer drivers instead of the OEM drivers.
OEM drivers are completely based on manufacturer drivers and technically speaking any video card that is not made by Nvidia is OEM anyways. Same for AMD video cards. They are all OEM except the ones made by AMD.
There's very strict rules on OEM video cards for that reason, to ensure they operate properly with the manufacturer drivers and are stable and perform within manufacturer specs.
