Aurora R16, no power, PSU?

Hi,

I have an Alienware R16, and it died a couple of months ago. No power, and tried all the online stuff to get it going - but nothing.

Most who I've spoken to have said it's very likely the PSU. As a bit (although not a total) noob, can anyone tell me what the actual model of PSU required is, and where best to get one? I'm happy to buy one and try it as I'm pretty sure that's the issue - but searches are just throwing so much my way, and I don't want to shell out a load of cash on the wrong one.

Cheers.

The label on the power supply will have the Dell part number you need to source a replacement.  However, a total power outage can easily be caused other than by the power supply - be sure the mainboard isn't the issue before buying.

The Alienware Aurora R16 uses a proprietary Dell power supply, not a standard ATX one.

Most models come with either a 500W (L500EPS-00) or 1000W (D1000EPS-00) PSU — same type used in the R13, R14, and R15. You’ll need to match your original wattage (check the sticker on your old PSU if possible).

You can buy replacements directly from Dell Parts, or from trusted sellers on eBay or Amazon — just make sure it’s listed for R16 compatibility and shows the correct connector layout.

✅ Tip: Don’t buy a generic PSU — it won’t fit or connect properly.

Does it still have Dell warranty given it is a very recent model?

You need a technical person to check the psu and system before going out to replace psu on your own. Mucking around without knowing could make the problem get worse before get better

@redxps630 No, it's out of warranty.

I'll likely get it looked at locally. I've read far too many horror stories about Dells collect & repair.

Thanks for the replies.

Try a CMOS battery reset before purchasing anything. Sometimes that resolves everything.

@Vanadiel Cheers. How do I do that?

@Vanadiel Anyway, I located the battery, removed it and even replaced it. Nothing.
