Aurora R16, dislike the chassis

I think my biggest issue right now is why in the world did Dell change the Alienware desktop chassis into this ugly regular looking desktop? What was wrong with the R15 design that made them change it? I am genuinely curious because it just seems like a downgrade. Even the R7 looked better than the R16. Anyone else have anything to say about it?

R7 chassis may look better to some but it has a serious internal poor air flow issue.  In general R5-8 and R9-12 chassis are like that b/c those all use clam shell psu swing arm design which is blocks internal air flow.  In R13 Dell has changed the psu to bottom compartment which got rid of that old problem.  R15 improved on R13 by adding side panel vent.  R16 is repackaging of R15 case in a new plastic LED shell.  Cooling is similar.

Likely a design decision. I am thinking it's cheaper to make a square case, than the case with the fancy shape and all kind of corners.

Also easier to package and ship as it physically takes up less space and packaging would be square rather than odd shaped to avoid damage to the case.

Most PC cases are square.

I greatly prefer the R16 over the R15 (had both).  To me it looks good and takes up less space.

Right when I was financially ready to buy they changed it and got rid of the best looking desktop they’ve had! Now I have to look for a second hand maxed out one all over the internet. Fyi no one has it, at least for sale that is. Maybe I’ll have to wait till they upgrade it again.
The ugliest desktop in Alienware history! I refuse to buy it!
