Aurora R15, RTX 5090 Founders Edition upgrade

Looks like an RTX 5090 Founders Edition will fit in the R15….

It’s a bit tight but it fits, I was even ti put the fan shroud that direct air to it back in. Although I chose to leave it out as this card has that end blocked off.

Did you use the existing 4090 connector?  Or did you have to use a different connecting cable?

@Jean_Moulin they share the same 12VHPWR connector, although the one coming from the PSU has a 90 degree angle on it so it didn’t physically fit as the 5090 has that angled connector. I had to use an extension without the 90 degree connector to be able to connect it.

What extension did you get?  Is it working?  Where did you get it?  Can you link me to it?

thanks.

I have that same pc but the 4080 variant. So I can switch out for a 5090?  I was told I would need the newest motherboard for a 5090. So to be clear I can unplug my 4080 and stick 5090 straight in?

You can technically just swap it as it will physically fit, the thing you have to watch out for is your power supply. Idk which one your PC was spec’d with, mine has the 1350 watt so it was fine for a 5090. You’re going to have to figure out which one you have.

Found a palit 4090 for £1295 so I’m just gonna go with that. Think I’d prefer the brute force of the 4090 over the 5090. The 50s Mainly Ai upscaling anyhow ain’t it. Thanks. .

@MrELDRIC brute force the 5090 is more powerful than a 4090. You still have the same issue with a 4090 though, you need to make sure your PSU is enough for it.

The 4090 is on its way. Should be here today. @£1295 I can’t complain. They’re from £2000 to £4500 on Amazon, which is insane for older card. Least my pc will be future proofed and I’m keeping the 4080 as back up. Thanks to everyone that replied.
