Aurora R15, help regarding 2nd SSD upgrade!

Hello ,

I'm planning to add a second SSD to my two year old computer and would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Could you please advise on whether I will need any additional screws or tools? My experience with computer upgrades is quite limited. I have attached pictures of my motherboard and current SSD read/write speeds for your reference.

Finally, my current SSD has a capacity of 500 GB; if I install a 1 TB SSD as a secondary drive, will this negatively impact the overall system performance?

Thank you :)

PS- I'm thinking of getting (Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 Internal Solid State Hard Drive), but as you can see my current SSD has significantly low read and write speeds compared to it. M wondering if that might affect the performance

PPS- Attached a couple of screenshots , if they can provide any more info

Adding a second SSD will not negatively impact the overall system performance.

Most of SSD manufacturers do not provide screw.  You will need an M.2 screw to secure the SSD onto the standoff screw (the top screw in your picture).  With the Samsung with heatsink, you can skip the thermal pad (lower area in your picture).

@jagitude See here for installing SSD's in the R15. The drive will not come with the screw, so you have to make sure there's a screw available in your R15.

@jagitude , in my previous post, I mentioned that you need an M.2 screw and you won't need thermal pad.  I pointed to the locations from your picture but I guess they were not clear to you.

For better clarification, see the thermal pad in picture 1 below.  The thermal pad was used to dissipate the heat from the SSD to the PCB surface on motherboard whereas the imprinted said M.2 SSD thermal pad area.  You won't need it because you planned to use SSD with heatsink.

You will need an M.2 screw to secure your SSD on top of the standoff (in yellow circle from your picture).  See the M.2 screw inside the red circle in picture 2 below.

@jagitude Yours comes with the spare screw. You mount it just like the device on the left. Make sure you have the right screw driver for it as you don't want to slip of it and stab your motherboard.
