Aurora R15, constantly crashing to desktop while gaming

I am having problems with my R15. Nothing wrong with the PC when its in normal use, but when i game it just randomly crashes to desktop in games like - Path of Exile, Diablo 4, Palworld, pretty much anything else. Have had the PC for 11 months with no issue, and then out of no where in the last 2 weeks I cannot play a game for more than 30 min without a crash. I have reinstalled drivers, monitored temperatures, and pretty much did everything else I can think of. I do not even know what to tell Dell to call them for warranty issues. Any ideas or same issues? PC- (4090 with 13900KF and 64gb with the 4tbSSD).

Same issue here. Random crashes with some games while others run smoothly. I get the occasional blue screen too from time to time. Every test I ran found no issues so I don't know what to do. I get often the memory access violation, or something like that, error with a bunch of games.

@Whiskeybum Same issue for me... I thought it was some kind of virus and went and bought Kaspersky Premium  haha.

My Kaspersky, also crashes in between.  some games crash (genshin, Warthunder) randomly, but League of legends and wargaming titles dont crash.

I found out that my USB ports are not detecting my USB storage drives, but however it works with headsets.

I have no idea what is going on, I'm going to try to format the computer fully today.

I have this same issue with my R15.  My example was trying a fairly old game like Diablo 3 recently.  I tried the links above (Updating BIOS and using that version of NVIDIA GEFORCE drivers) and it still crashes!  I have a RTX 4090 with i9-13900KF and 32Gb with a 2TB SSD

I've escalated this issue to our Level 3 support team, and they are currently investigating it. Rest assured that once they find the final solution, I'll share it with you.

Same system, same random crashes. Came here hoping to find a solution. Returned once, Dell replaced Motherboard and power supply, still same problem. Was told it was an NVIDIA problem and revert back to Dell drivers . . . still same problem.

What does the event display say???

For me, I recommend looking at the CPU and PCIe slot power supply options! - Control Panel > Power options (for icon view) Select "CHange Plan Settings"

@DELL-Nat M same issue here. Dell came out and replaced the motherboard a few months ago and that made it a little better for a short period of time. Now it's crashing ALL THE TIME. This is unacceptable for a system that costs so much! Something needs to be done!

Stability issues with the Aurora R15 or Aurora R16 desktops. This problem is impacting every manufacturer shipping products with the Intel 13th and 14th generations of the K CPU. For example, the 13900KF or the 14900KF. Replacing hardware will not fix this.

  1. Update their Windows operating system to the most recent revision available.
  2. Install the latest NVIDIA driver from the desktops Dell Drivers & Downloads page.
  3. Disable the OC Control option from inside the BIOS or AWCC (Alienware Command Center).
    • Disable the OC Control option from the AWCC utility, where the option is unavailable in the BIOS.
  4. In AWCC, select AlienFusion. Change the profile to Balanced mode (Figure 1).
Note: Do not select Performance or Custom mode as this would trigger issues.
    Changing AWCC profile to Balanced
Figure 1. Changing AWCC profile to Balanced
  5. If none of the steps above resolved the issue, enter the BIOS setup screens and disable the Intel Speedshift and Speedstep options.
Note: These changes have an impact on the performance of the Alienware Desktops, but they do improve its stability.

@DELL-Chris M Thank you! After 2-3 months of my 1 year old Aurora R15's browser and game crashing inconsistently getting worse, this was the only solution that worked. And I tried it all, every troubleshoot, scan, repair, system restore, system reset, update, driver, BIOS change, etc.

I kept crashing until step 5 of your changes so to others, maybe start there (I have all 5 steps active though.) Now I've been good for over 3 days and don't even see a difference in gameplay or anything. Was really about to just replace the whole PC if this didn't work so thank you again Chris!

Issue solved on my side, hope it works for others too. Maybe pin to the first post or something.

@DELL-Chris M

Hey! Thanks for the awesome solution, especially step 5.

Now I know the issue is definitely cause by Intel CPU especially for 13th/14th gen. Disabling the OC would be the obvious choice.

However, will there be an upcoming solution for us to tune it back again?

Its like buying a race car but you can't race it seems pretty dull.

WELL IVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THE SAME ISSUES SPENT ALOT OF TIME ON THE PHONE WITH ALIENWARE SUPPORT AND WENT THE WRONG DIRECTION WITH MY ISSUE WITH NO FIX.  TOOK MY R15 TO A DELL SERVICE CENTER AND THEY REPLACED THE VIDEO CARD STILL ISSUES. LIKE STATED FROM CHRIS THE ONLY FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME IS DISABLING ITEMS IN THE BIOS WHICH IS TOTAL WHEN YOU BUY A GAMING PC

Since intel has gone quiet about this, and disabling these bios options are an indicator of a bad processor, will Dell replace CPUs under warranty?
