Aurora R14, advice on replacing Ryzen CPU with Intel

My son's desktop is a an Aurora R14 Ryzen Edition. We upgraded his video card from AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT 4GB GDDR6 to a GeForce RTX 4600 since the 6500 XT was not compatible with Oculus VR. It worked and he can connect to his Oculus but it occasionally blue screens. NVIDEA recommends that for VR games an Intel I5 or better. The current CPU is an Ryzen 5 5600X. What are my options? Can I replace the Ryzen with an I7 or I9?

Any advice is appreciated.

AMD and Intel are two different companies with different chip designs.  To change AMD CPU to Intel, it will also require different motherboard, leading to a complete different computer.

The recommendations are listed here.

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or greater
  • CPU: Intel Core i5/AMD Ryzen 5 or greater
  • Memory/RAM: 8 GB or more
  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Driver: NVIDIA Display Driver version 511.23 or higher

Oculus Quest and Quest 2

  • 1x USB 3.0 (may also require an Oculus Link cable. Refer to the Oculus website)

Oculus Rift S, HP Reverb and G2 Reverb, and other inside-out tracked headsets

  • 1x USB 3.0
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4

Valve Index, HTC Vive Pro, and other outside-in tracked headsets

  • 3x USB 3.0
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4

Your blue screen crashes are likely due to another reason, which often is related to the video card driver but not always.

I would look in the event viewer to see what is recorded for the crashes, as that should provide a starting point.

How to use event viewer.

@Vanadiel Thanks, I will check out the event viewer and let you know what I find. I'm running the  RTX 4060 GPU, Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, 16gb of ram, Windows 11 Home. Would it be a simple to replace the Ryzen 5 with a faster AMD chip? Should I pony up for more ram as well?

@Graylane94 It's never a bad idea, but I would first see what is causing the crashes before spending money on something that might not be needed.
