Aurora R13, AWCC 6x

Alienware Aurora R13
Just checked the drivers page, it is now showing that alienware command centre 6x is a recommended download for my computer, previously was not compatible for the R13, has this now changed? or is this a mistake on Dell's part? Don't want to install and breaks my pc, running Win 11

The new updated AWCC 6 version 6.5.9.0, A00 does include R13 and R14. It is not a Dell mistake. but no promise there is no bug.
test it at your own risk. If current AWCC works I would hold off. But if you are willing to try go ahead.

I've been running AWCC 6. on my R13 for a couple of months now. I'm finding it more stable than 5.x and with a better interface.

@AnClar Hi I tried to do the 5.xx update today, windows would not let it install, so I uninstalled current 5 and tried to install full updated package, again awcc 5 could not finish install, kept getting message install was interrupted cannot finish install, I tried disabling virus protection and all windows security during install, uninstalled nvidia app just in case that was interfering, also went through the full dell removal procedure, still v5 would not install, so have run 6 and installed straight away, I'm running Win 11 so guess version 5 no longer compatible after latest windows build, everything works ok and yeah better interface, but cannot find the sound settings that were on version 5, I did like to tweak those a bit

@DaveoA With this incompatibility of v5 now on latest Win 11 builds (install interrupted cannot complete installation error mid install), Dell should remove the v5 altogether in drivers and software for the R13 with Win 11, and work on adding more v6 features for the older Alienware, like sound adjustments that were in v5, very confusing when both listed

I got a huge Problem with my R13 and AWCC 6.5.9.0.
The tool works fine but there are no graphics for the Zones of the RBG lumination.
Is there any kind of Solution?

During a system cleanup, found ~15GB worth of AWCC v5 installations implying that the installer does NOT delete old packages when upgrading. I had, at least, 6 different versions lying around in two(2) different locations on the boot partition (Drive C).
I wonder if this was fixed in AWCC v6.x.
Going to take the leap and try AWCC v6.x. Fingers crossed, but first... a system boot drive image of the running system, just in case.
Happy trails!
Best...

@gritty.Kitty Best way to insure that your uninstall is complete is to try Revo Uninstaller. That will uninstall and does a good job in removing old remanants of prior installs.

@AnClar Agreed that Revo Uninstaller is very useful for these tasks, and highly recommend. Also used CC Cleaner to ensure that all drivers and software are completely up to date.

Up to press AWCC v6 is working perfectly, but the sound options only show when my alienware headphones are connected, the thing now is the power modes, on v5 i set to balanced with thermal set to performance, which kept the cpu cooler during gaming, but performance in v6 increases cpu usage and increases temp due to the extra power, that's what I'm finding, thus gets hotter, in balanced fans are letting the cpu run hot as well, in v5 the cpu never went above 51c, at idle it was 25-28C in v5, now with v6 it has been up to 62c and idles in the mid to latter 30's, there is a custom mode but not sure best settings to apply, if anyone has ideas on optimal settings without heating the cpu too much, I did add swap out the cpu to the i9, which was no issue with the v5 and temps described are for the i9 processor

@Bastian09 I have the same problem. No image of theR13 was generated in AWCC 6X
And also the Alienware FX API (in game light effects) which I deeply enjoy, stopped working in all supported games.
There was other option for me to went back to the AWCC 5X version (Sadly)

I have been running v6 for a while on R13, but since install I'm finding my cpu is getting hotter than normal, I'm using the latest version, whereas v5 was getting around 40c until I upgraded the cpu and renewed the thermal paste with MX-6 then got 25c to 28c at idle and never got above 70c gaming, as soon as installed v6x latest version cpu temp idles around 45c to 57c, I used handbrake the other day to convert a small video, the fans went nuts and my R13 cpu temp hit 99c, I quickly halted that as that can can kill the cpu, I have got the Dell Alienware cryo cooler as well, I have tried numerous times to reinstall v5, but just will no longer install on my R13, gaming hits 80c with the v6, I'm going to try and replace the thermal paste, but any ideas, could the cryo cooler be on the way out?
