Aurora R12, CPU 166°C
Hey how ya doin? I got a Alienware Aurora R12 specs are:
I5-11400f, 5 ssd's, 1 hdd, 112gb ddr4, msi 3060 12gb vram, removed both stock case fans and installed 3 new ones to produce more airflow
Today the CPU hit 166°C, should I be concerned?

If it truly hit 166 degree Celsius, which I don't think is possible, yes.
It likely is not reading correctly, as 166 would be impossible to achieve without destroying the CPU in the process.
I would start by checking all the new fans, to make sure they are turning and everything is connected properly.

More likely 166F . . . which would be about 74C. It is not clear what kind of load was on the CPU at that temp reading, so we can't really tell if it is a serious problem. That CPU probably came with the tiny pancake fan air cooler, so heat will always be an issue in the airflow starved Aurora case.
The 112GB of RAM also seems peculiar.

@Rob71717 That is about 97C, which is hot for 24% CPU utilization. The problem is likely the tiny pancake fan CPU cooling solution. Consider upgrading to AIO liquid cooling . . . even for an i5.

oh i upgraded,. i swapped the case,. put in a dozen fans , new power supply and case, new vertical gpu mount, rgb everything,. 3tb nvme ssd (2+1), 112gb ddr4 3200mz, and RTX 3060 12gb vram,. on a 30"curved 2k screen and Bose soundbar 600 and dual Bose 500's subwoofers,. with razer cam, xtend mousepad, mouse keyboard, and 3 sets of govee lights,..and a giant box of parts that didnt work cause dells are near impossible to work with without spending a fortune in mods and upgrades,..all in all, i think i make a better alienware than dell. This is the new and improved R12.

realistically how hard is a cpu upgrade?,.. on a scale of 1 to 10,... the whole case swap was my 1st ever, i think it turned out rather not terrible for what i was working with,....i found the whole case swap challenging only because dell makes their parts as if they dont want you to do a case swap, so everything was difficult,...no rgb headers, cables too short, error codes out the ass, then the pre checks almost making sparks fly everytime i post,. not to mention no pcie burification lane splitting so no nvme x4 expansion cards (i got a box full of them that wont work for dells r12 mobo),. and all the regular fun stuff like only 1 nvme on board and so on,.. the reasons why im building it up so much is cause for 1, i got the R12 super cheap, like a hundred bucks or so,. and 2,.to show up dell-(we kinda have a history)(thanx for letting me back in the forums, it was a long year lol)

@Rob71717 CPU upgrade is not difficult if you are careful. Make sure the new CPU is compatible with your motherboard socket. What CPU do you currently have in that rig?
