Aurora R10, best gpu upgrade?

Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10

Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10

I’m trying to upgrade my gpu so I can run star citizen better then running on low all the time the game is beautiful and I want to see it better

The current one I got is

AMD Radeon RX 5700 8GB GDDR6

The issue is I want to play this game without replacing my processor and air cooler

I want to keep my air cooler and my

AMD Ryzen 5 3500

witch gpu would work best with both the computer and not hurt those components in the computer

OP cpu R5 3500 is too slow for 4070 Ti, it bottlenecks the gpu

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
Benchmark CPU  AMD Ryzen 5 3500 ($148)
CPU Impact on FPS -36.2 FPS
CPU Impact on FPS % -10.0%
Benchmark Quality Settings  Ultra Quality Settings
Average 1080p Performance 260.3 FPS
Average 1440p Performance 199.0 FPS
(Ultrawide) Average 1440p Performance 173.9 FPS
Average 4K Performance 126.1 FPS

it also bottlenecks 4060 or 3050

seems without upgrading the cpu R5 3500 as OP wished
RX5700 is a good match for the cpu now

AMD Radeon RX 5700
Benchmark CPU  AMD Ryzen 5 3500 ($148)
CPU Impact on FPS -3.6 FPS
CPU Impact on FPS % 0.0%
Benchmark Quality Settings  Ultra Quality Settings
Average 1080p Performance 109.1 FPS
Average 1440p Performance 81.6 FPS
(Ultrawide) Average 1440p Performance 69.7 FPS
Average 4K Performance 48.7 FPS

RTX 2060 or 2070 is a good match for R5 3500 too.  it is ~ the same speed as RX 5700.

RTX 2080 is a modest upgrade from RX 5700 and still matches cpu

RTX 2080 Ti seems to be best upgrade for OP cpu

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Benchmark CPU  AMD Ryzen 5 3500 ($148)
CPU Impact on FPS -5.2 FPS
CPU Impact on FPS % 0.0%
Benchmark Quality Settings  Ultra Quality Settings
Average 1080p Performance 156.2 FPS
Average 1440p Performance 119.6 FPS
(Ultrawide) Average 1440p Performance 103.2 FPS
Average 4K Performance 73.2 FPS

@redxps630

if I were to upgrade to a

NVIDIA - GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB GDDR6

Graphics Card - Titanium/Black

would that run hot or would it be cooler then the 4070

it depend on specific card model design.  temp of card in practice is not solely determined by TDP but other factors including chassis air flow, number of fans etc.  it also depends on the game and fps you run at.

I think I have shown that without a cpu upgrade (which may be hampered by R10 motherboard version you have), RTX 4000 series gpu is bottlenecked.

If I were to upgrade to a

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

and get a 1000 watt power supply

would the regular air cooler that’s was manufactured by dell keep it cold

and would I be able to switch my Gpu to a GIGABYTE GV-N307TGAMING OC-8GD GAMING OC GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GPU

wouth this hypothetically allow me to play games at higher frames without any bottlenecking

amd or heat problems

5800X is not supported by that R10 motherboard. Once you factor in the cost of upgrades, upgrading to a new system that is on sale is the better option as it would almost cost the same as all the upgrades would.

If OP had the newer board it would support 5800X (as well as AMD Ryzen 5 3500)

if OP had the older board then it would not support 5800X
