Aurora 13, won't power up, motherboard?
My A13 won't power up. I sent it to geeksquad cause I bought it at best buy and they claim I need a new motherboard. This is the second one in 3 years. First...Are there still motherboards in stock for the A13? Second, isn't there a way to diagnose this even though it won't power up? Am I getting good advice to replace the mother board?

Any replacement motherboard will likely be "refurbished".
You are getting the advice from GeekSquad, which is incentivized to generate work.

@ProfessorW00d Got it. Thank you.
Unfortunately I don't have the computer, they do, but it sounds like they can't get a motherboard so as soon as I get it back I'll check this.
I get the same impression that you exactly said. I could open any computer up, see that it doesn't turn on, and say it needs a new motherboard. No diagnostics what so ever. I'm requesting they send me the motherboard back when they replace the part. Is there a way to test it when I get the old motherboard back?

@lastockswami the only way to test your motherboard would be to connect the necessary components to boot.

OK... Apparently they don't have the means to do so. Thanks @ProfessorW00d

@lastockswami Then how do they know it's faulty?
I would change the coin cell battery and purchase a PSU tester from Amazon for $20.
I would also not trust a maintenance shop that does not have a $20 PSU tester...

@Vanadiel Exactly my point to them! How do they know it's faulty? They just say they can't turn it on and then figure out it's not working...oops, get a new motherboard.
Anyhow, 100% I'm with you, that is exactly what I was feeling. Thank you for the suggestion, when I get it back, I'll give the psu tester a shot. I very much dislike geek squad but I brought it there because this was the second time it died since I've had it, 3 years. And, it's not a cheap computer.
