Aurora 13, unable to reinstall Win 11 Home!

Hi everyone,

After I made a windows system restore without a fix for my gaming issue I had to restore the system using (dell app) support assist or the other one not sure, my entire pc was broken after many tries and googling I managed to make it run but it wasn't stable at all so I thought I needed to reinstall the Windows 11 Home that I have but the problem is that it fails to reinstall I tried everything except the media creation file with a USB which I'm afraid going to wipe all the custom build system from Dell in my AW Aurora 13 ...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Help me to Reinstall a fresh version of Windows 11 Home WITHOUT loosing my files on Drive D only ... I don't care about DRIVE C which has the operation system installed on ...

Thanks in Advance

To protect data on drive D, open the chassis and disconnect both of data and power cables to your D drive.  Create a USB installer using Windows Creation Tool.  Installation will require to delete all partition on the boot drive.  After the operating system is properly setup, open the chassis (with power off of course) to reconnect the cables and your D drive will be recognized.

System drivers can be download and install from Dell support site.  For details and settings instructions, review this discussion  https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/alienware-desktops/aurora-r13-reinstall-windows-11-from-scratch/647f9b05f4ccf8a8deed0da5

@Chino de Oro If you’re referring to media creation tool on USB the error shows up after the percentage of making the file on the usb reaches almost 100% I’m not exactly sure because I was AFK & saw the error message after I returned.

Kindly If you have any instructions for me to follow & test please go ahead let me know.

Thanks

A clean installation will wipe everything on your boot drive.  Except the Window license is embedded on motherboard and the USB install will recognized to install a matching Windows edition (Win 11 Home).

After Windows installation, installing the chipset driver and ME driver.  Run Windows update and it will reinstall the rest, minus Dell tools.

In comparison, all previous installed Dell apps and tools did not help and let you be in current situation.  Clean install is your last option, must you decide.

I think you refer to the error from Windows recovery USB?  My suggestion is performing a clean Windows install from USB created by Windows Creation Tool.  You will get the latest 24H2 instead of the original builds from recovery options.

Take your time to review this tutorial for Windows installation process before working on your system  https://pureinfotech.com/clean-install-windows-11-24h2/

Disconnect the D drive from the system to avoid making an oops.

Then follow one of these methods to reset or reinstall Windows 11.
