Area-51 R5, screen flickering
Hello,
I have an alienware area 51 R5 of maybe 6-7 years old. (2018-2019 i guess)
Since 1-2 weeks, i have screen flickerings happening randomly with sometimes, absence of occurrence during 3 days.
It can happen at the boot, while watching a video or even by surfing on internet without doing big tasks.
I tried to clean inside, verified the hdmi cables all seem ok.
I installed the newest nvidia drivers. It was a long time ago it has not been updated but even with this, it didn't work.
Do you have informations about it? Do you recommend something?
Thanks for your help
Here a picture of what happens and my specs
CPU: I7 7800X 3.5 GHZ
RAL 16 Go
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
ssd 250 go
3 sata 2 To
windows 10 x64 bit

If you have another system to try connecting to the monitor you have, that would be first - if the monitor behaves the same way, it's likely the problem.
If the monitor behaves OK on another system, and there's no Windows error due to video issues, chances are the GPU card is on its way out and will need to be replaced.

Thank you,
I tried another cable hdmi, and the computer reboot sometimes when it happens,i guess it's not the screen as you say...
I also had nvlddmkm event
Do you think i can try a clean installation of Nvidia drivers? Do you recommend other tests/try before changing gpu?
i have to go to device manager then uninstall nvidia display graphic adapter then download nvidia newest driver?
thanks

You can try that, but I suspect the GPU needs to be replaced.

Try removing and reseating the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti in the motherboard slot. See page 49 = Removing the graphics card
