Area-51 R5, latest CPU?

So with the latest update on the bios, what is the latest CPU that it can accept? Can I put a i9-10900 on it? I currently have a i7-9800x that came with it and a RTX 3080 12GB. I want to upgrade my CPU because its falling in some games and other stuff.

Actually the i7 9800X is 8% better than the i9 in performance according to Game Debate.

You can try this bottleneck calculator to see what your options are: Bottleneck calculator

You do have to take the results with a few grains of salt, but at least it can provide a baseline.

Also note that bottlenecks are dependent on screen resolution.

9980XE would be a good option for 1440P and up. At 1080P there's not much option for you. Now considering the price for any of these CPU's and the aging architecture of that platform, I would personally be looking at a new motherboard and go from there.

Same spec here...now migrating to an MSI board and i9 13900kf. The i7 9800x whilst decent for its time with my RTX 3080, the CPU was frequently bottlenecking the GPU in MSFS 2020 in VR.

Plus AW have stopped the Area 51 series with the R6 threadripper - and nothing performance gaining beyond the Skylake-X 9000-series and 4.5 GHz.
