Alienware Update vs. Dell Support Assist
Alienware Aurora R13
Recently I was making my rounds checking for updates on my AW Aurora R13. Dell has the AW update application and the Dell Support Assist, but it appears Dell has abandoned the AW Update application this year.
That's fine, but even with both installed, I checked both and they all said, "Drivers up to date". Quickly I did a dxdiag to check the version on my BIOS and I had 1.20. Dell support site had 1.22.
*Sigh* Never thought that with two applications for the same purpose, both of them were reporting false information. So with that, just some advice to manually check your systems once in a while.. you may not be getting the correct information. "Trust but verify."

Alienware Update and Dell Update are EOL (end of life) effective December 31, 2024. Uninstall them if on your PC.
On my Area-51 R2 (2016) I also only do a "manual" check for drivers. I do not allow any "software" to do this.
I only install a driver to correct a specific issue I am facing. I never install a driver (BIOS, Video, Chipset, etc.) just because it is newer.
