Alienware OLED, feedback regarding the pixel refresh
It is my 2nd Alienware OLED and honestly pixel refresh process could be improved in terms of ergonomics.
In my 1st one (34" 165hz) it was a rather intrusive prompt in the middle that screen needs pixel refresh. It could be disabled but then... if you wan't to take care of your screen you either have external timer or press menu button once in a while to check status.
This new one by default has prompt disabled and would either start refresh on shutdown or when display is put in a sleep mode by Windows. If you disturb this process then it will ask if it should continue and if you select YES then it will finish up and... shut down. Why? Isn't it obvious that I intend to use the screen after choosing this option?
If you want to trigger pixel refresh manually then:
- press menu button
- check status
- if yellow press power button
- wait
- have your monitor shut down
- turn on your monitor
Dell, why don't you put a physical button (like power button with LED) that would light up in a non intrusive way when it is time to pixel refresh. If user press it then monitor will do pixel refresh and go back to life without shuting down.
Easy solution to something that is rather annoying in a long run for user.
This is just a feedback - feel free to implement it in your next products if you find it relevant.

They could honestly make this a lot better with proper software support.
I use a Philips OLED, and they have a very nice software program called Evnia Precision Center. You can control every single aspect of the monitor with the application. It's not a huge software package like AWCC and runs smoothly and efficiently.
I do a pixel refresh by a click on the button.
If Philips can do it, then I am sure Dell can do it also. I don't even touch the joystick on the monitor because I can do everything with the application.
