Ethernet/Wifi Issues on Alienware Alpha
System: Alienware Alpha & Alienware Steam Machine, purchased back in 2017, I think the model I own was built in 2015 or 2016.
Issue Rundown: A few months back my PC stopped connecting to WIFI (I think it's linked to my WIFI card? I know next to nothing about hardware), no biggie I just bought a range extender with an ethernet port and connected it to my PC so I could get internet. A few days back it seems to have stopped working. I will open my Network tab on the taskbar and it will say "Identifying..." where the network name should be and below "No internet". The icon will be the no internet icon, little globe with a Ø next to it. I started out just restarting my system and it would connect to ethernet again, but now 9 times out of 10 it doesn't. I'll restart my system and it still won't connect. I've restarted my router, my extender, unplugged and plugged my cords back in, but it still keeps shutting off. I've also tried turning off fast start-up and restarting my PC and the problem still persists. I'm not quite sure what to do about it? I can supply more info if needed, but I think that's basically all I have.
Quick edit: the first day it happened, it seemed to stop working every 2 hours or so before I would restart and then so on. The second day it didn't really happen until that afternoon, and then the 3rd day, and now today I've been restarting it for about 5 hours before it finally connected to ethernet.
