Alpha R2, AGA, RX 580, no signal
Hello everyone !
After spending more than 2 days on troubleshooting this problem, I figured i'd ask for help on this forum.
I have an Alpha R2 steam machine that has been connected to a GTX 1660 on the AGA for about 6 months. I stopped using it, put the 1660 in a new desktop, and now, I have an RX580 that I would like to use in the AGA.
Problem is, I can't, for the life of me, find a way to make it work. It has been 2 days, and I tried a fresh install of windows, putting drivers before plugging the AGA, putting drivers last, almost everything you can think of, and nothing works. It worked 2 times out of nowhere, I received signal, and the monitor was displaying the Alienware logo, but any other time since 48 hours, it has been a black screen with the mention ''No signal''. I have no idea what I have done to make it work, and I have no idea why it doesn't show any signal to the tv.
The ribbon to the graphics amplifier is lit up, the fans on the RX 580 are working, and everything should theoretically work, but it just doesn't, and I am pretty bummed up that I spent money on the AGA and the RX card, and they are both useless right now.
The card is a Gigabyte RX580 8gb V2.0.
Thank you for your help, and have a great day

Did you remember to connect the monitor to the back of the amp (not to the back of the x51)?
Also, if you wiped windows, I think you're supposed to have the alienware software reinstalled.

I do have the HDMI connected to the amplifier, and I have installed the Alienware Graphics Amplifier Software installed. Could there be a drivers issue because the internal graphics is Nvidia ?

If you wanted to test the possiblity of a conflict you could remove the nvidia gpu, boot with onboard, ddu the nvidia drivers, and then boot with the amp connected to the monitor.

It could be possible, but keep in mind the amp was advertised as compatible with amd, and considering the compatible alienware products were sold stock with nvidia gpu's this possibility had to have been factored into account (especially considering most people don't remove gpu's from laptops). Back in the day it would be a problem but these days win 10 will allow a pc to have amd and nvidia in the same pc. I don't think the amp should complicate that equation.

Thank you for your input, I believe it is due to possible driver problem since it has worked 2 times, and the computer recognized the card, but doesn’t most of the time. About the GPU removal, can it be done on my Alpha R2, it is not a laptop but a desktop machine, so I believe it cannot be done right ?

Ah, you're right the Alpha R2's gpu is basically a part of the mobo, the service manual gives no procedure for removal.
