Alpha R1, UK, purchase CMOS battery?
I live in the UK and I can't find any here. They are all based abroad. I'm fed up getting the YLOD and want to try a replacement battery. The machine has been back to Dell twice and the warranty has expired (even though the machine was with them over 2 months). I'm desperate to try anything now.

Take apart the old one and solder the wires to new one with solder tabs. Then wrap in heat shrink.
Personally I would also hack a hole in the bottom so I dont have to disassemble the whole unit.

or use this method with copper tape.

Cheers mate. I thought that would be the case. Do you know what battery would be best. The guy in the video has a 3v version of a cell battery. Is that too powerful? I wondered how long a battery like that would last also.

I believe its a
CR2032 CMOS
I want to make sure before I start taking the machine to bits I make the right choice.

I have the R1 alpha aka its a steam machine ASM100 same thing.
The battery is in blue or black heatshrink its a CR2032 with wires and a tiny connector.
DCR2032W-2PNMP
CR2032CL-23-2
No Idea why they didnt use a regular socket or why they make you explode the thing completely apart to get at the battery.
After getting apart I Cut a hole in the case and the metal bracket so that I dont need to disassemble each time.

Cheers for the response. I'll put a new battery in. I'll bite the bullet and buy from the US. I guess I could put a cheap battery in but to be honest I want something a bit more permenant. I've ordered copper tape and a some insulation tape, and a heatshrink sleeve. Hopefully that should be sufficient.
