XPS 17 9710 - Bad Sound

Hi there,

I have one main issue with the XPS. It seems like it has really cheap audio. As a musician it's important to have good quality of audio in a laptop to work on projects and new ideas when i'm travelling. It has never been an issue with a macbook, so i'm wondering if it's just broken? Everything works fine, but it seems like the pre-installed "killer"-app by waves is "faking" a good sound. I've tried out to use a cheap 15€ soundcard and it sounded better(had real sub-frequencies etc). I've also tried out to deactivate all the "killer"-app settings and it sounded even worse. But I don't want to have any fake-surround-sound that feels noisy, especially as a music-producer. I'm thinking about selling the xps... for a price-tag of around 3000$ it should be a great audio-interface/card. But maybe i missed something... am i doing something wrong? (Ps.: i've checked it with 80ohm, 250ohm, standard headphones and in-ears)

Thank you

Unfortunately, I made a mistake. The app is called "MaxxAudio Pro by Waves" instead of "Killer App".

Hello. Sorry, but what is the sound like exactly? Is there a way to record it for us?

I don't think that it's possible to record it, because it's mainly bad subfrequencies. The only way to check the sound would be to use the same headphones and switch between the internal input and an external soundcard i think. Imagine the sound to be just less powerful. MaxxAudio enhances the subfrequencies etc. But it's still lacking a "full/warm" sound.

I'm sorry, but we're afraid, that we can't really help you here. If the audio is working, then the system is most likely working as designed.
Is there really no way, to make some way of recording or video for us?

I found a way to fix it:

Step/Schritt 5 - It seems that the MaxxAudio Software is causing the issues. I've deinstalled the software as well.Step/Schritt 5 - It seems that the MaxxAudio Software is causing the issues.
