WD19TB not working after failed Firmware update
Hey everyone,
I'm having issues with my Dell WD19TB Thunderbolt dock after trying to update its firmware. I came across this official Dell article that has that exact error:
🔗 https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/de-en/000184585/ec-firmware-of-dell-dock-station-wd19x-updated-failed-on-generation-8-platforms-with-windows-10-20h1-or-higher
Unfortunately, the workaround mentioned there didn't help in my case. Support ran out on both devices years ago.
Here's what's happening:
The dock is not being detected by my XPS 15 7590.
The USB-C LED on the cable is not lighting up.
USB passthrough is working (I can use connected peripherals like a mouse/keyboard).
The dock button works (it powers the laptop on).
HDMI, DisplayPort, and Ethernet are NOT working.
Already tried switching drivers, no success.
Suspecting a Thunderbolt issue, seems like a common pain point with recent XPS models.
So far, no real progress on a fix. Not sure if there's a way to force a reflash of the dock or revive it via another system, open to any suggestions or tools I could try. Running Win 11 and thunderbolt 3 drivers seem to be junky for now.
If you're facing the same issue or about to update your dock, maybe hold off for now until Dell provides a more solid fix.
Posting this both as a call for help and a heads-up for others. Will update if i come across a fix.
Cheers.
