Dell XPS 15 fan noise

Hello,

Can someone kindly help?

When I connect charger to my Dell XPS 15, the fan makes a lot of noise. I tried downloading Dell Power Manager Service, but I couldn't install and launch the application. Kindly find below a screenshot of the error message I get.

The laptop is relatively new (less than a year) and it is a problem I have been continually experiencing.

Many thanks in advance for your support.

If you think the Dell Power Manager is helpful in your case and you won't contact the Dell service then you can download your XPS orig. Windows installation. With it you have to re-install the system, i.e. all your settings / changes get lost but the Power Manger will be back...

You problem description let me these root causes assume:

  1. The battery is not OK and produces a lot of heat if (tried) to charge.
  2. The battery charging circuit is not OK.
  3. A combination of 1. and 2.
  4. The power supply is not OK.

Only # 4. you can resolve by your own ... but it is obviously a warranty case -> get it back to Dell.

Bye!

Tom, have you got e-mail from the Dell community support team? It seems I got e-mails which are for your problem ...

Because it is in general helpful here is the content of the Dell message I received:

If the Dell Power Manager is already installed on your system, please uninstall it as first. Here is the guide: http://del.ly/6608HqqLo

Then follow the guide in this article and install Dell Power Manager from Microsoft Store: http://del.ly/6609HqqLU

As next step, reinstall / update the drivers mentioned in this article: http://del.ly/6600HqqLq

Then check in Dell Support Assist if all drivers are up to date and optimize your system. Check this video: http://del.ly/6601HqqLS

If the fan is still too loud, please run the Hardware Diagnostics tool. Here is the guide: http://del.ly/6602HqqLs

Regards,
Martin
