Optiplex 7071 - Boot from SATA SSD
Hi,
I'm now a proud owner of a new Optiplex 7071 desktop.
Problem I have is that I want to migrate an existing Win10 installation from another computer onto my new hardware.
I've made an image from my previous computer onto a brand new SSD and now want to boot from this SSD on my new Optiplex.
Unfortunately, there is no option in the BIOS for defining the boot priorities (you know like in the past, where you could select which drive to boot first). This option is just non-existent in the current BIOS.
How can I tell the BIOS that there is a new SATA-SSD (besides the pre-installed NVMe-2 drive) and I want to boot from that drive?
Only thing I can find in the BIOS is some "legacy support" checkboxes where it is explicably written "This will not work on internal SSDs, but on external SDs, HDDs and SSDs.
This has worked like a charm in the past on other dell machines... Make and image from the old machine onto a new SSD - hook up the SSD in the new machine - enter BIOS and define the boot priorities - and here we go - Win10 up and running.
I've also hooked up the SSD via a SATA to USB adapter and successfully booted from the SSD, but the boot sector of the SSD was destroyed by the Windows "repair" functionality.
I just want my new computer to boot from an internal SATA SSD.
How can this be achieved?
Thanks
Best,
L.

Hallo,
diese Vorgehensweise wird von uns nicht unterstützt, da es genau zu diesen Schwierigkeiten bei einem Image Prozess geben kann. Bitte installiere das Betriebssystem auf einem normalen Weg.
