Dell XPS best Wifi - Smart Access Point & Router
Can you please give me some kind of advice?
Situation:
- 1x router
- 1x access point
House:
- Upper floor
- Ground floor (access point)
- Basement (Router)
Router has better Wifi signal strength (5 GHz AX), which the access point only has (802.11n). My Dell XPS instead of connecting to router with better signal strength and in close proximity prefers to connect to access point which is 1 floor away.
I can't understand!
Besides, both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks have the same name, which means both access point and router connect to the same network.
When I switch on Wifi, I only see one Wifi name (so it's convenient to walk between floors without worrying)
However, there must be some way to tell the Dell XPS to connect to the best possible wifi or to assign MAC or IPv4, I don't know!
And i have following HW: Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650s 160MHz Wireless Network Adapter (201D2W)
Pic:
and when i try to switch to first place 5GHZ AX, it tries to connect again, but choosing still the worst one

For me, the Killer "Smart Access Point Selection" constantly choses the router with the worst signal strength in the house instead of a repeater (same specs as the router a/n/ac/ax). I would be glad if the Killer "Smart AP Selection" would prefer the AP with the much better signal strength (97 vs 45)
The product should be named "Dumb Access Point Selection" or it should be marked as "humor" with a smile emoji
