Universal Dock UD22 Firmware Update stuck
Dear All,
When I start UD22 firmware update 1.0.14.20, A04 as of 27 oct 2023, screen is stuck detecting the UD22 device.
The "install HUB driver" message as displayed on previous release 1.0.13.19, A03 is missing.
Tried install on 1 Win10 HP Laptop, 1 Win11 Dell E7440 Laptop and 1 Win11 Desktop PC, same result.
Help is much appreciated for occasionally blurred display + black-outs. Firmware 1.0.14.20, A04 is addressing these issues at least in parts.
Thx chaps!

Wrong category? Am happy to switch category if yomeone tells which

I am facing exactly the same issue.
All updates bevor A04 were working perfectly in connection with my Lenovo YOGA 900-13ISK, but this one just will not install, since in my opinion, the dock is never correctly recognized (fake serial 123456, always 100% power, status undetected).
Even tried it with at least one Dell Latitude of the 7400 or newer model range which is officially supported by Dell with same results.
Opened a case shortly after release of A04 with Dell but they kept on saying that the version is not faulty and works as designed according to them. (Incident nbr <Private data removed from public view DELL-Admin>)

Hello to the forum,
the problem is actually with the Dell Updater. It only affects devices that are running a non-English version of Windows.
The updater cannot create the authorisation for the temporary directory because, for example, ‘administrators’ means ‘Administratoren’ in German language. Due to the missing authorisation, the drivers for USB are not loaded and therefore the program does not recognise the connected dock.
Dear Dell Team: The problem affects versions A04 and A05.
Please programme so that the software also runs in other parts of the world :-)
Greetings, Uwe

@Uwe K
I can confirm your observations:
@ Dell Support Team: Please fix this for version A05 and future releases. It had been working fine with version A03.

@DellThusiast @Uwe K
Thx for sharing!
This helped to a point but not final however.
I installed an US English version in dual boot after trying to achieve this by switching system's language.
Like DellThusiast and UweK described, the USB driver install completed successfully.
Thx for that so far.
However, the PD Chip Update leaves me in undefined state.
Yes, I tried multiple times.
I appreciate DELL to fix this finally.

I have finally found a solution...
Dell has released a new version of the firmware this week. Again, the update programme does not recognise my UD22!
The solution is to add the user ‘EVERYONE’ ("JEDER" in german version) to the "temp" directory. You have to grant full access for the duration of the update.
C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Temp
The USB connection is then established, the docking station is found and the update runs smoothly.
It is a pity that Dell is not able to fix this problem for users in Germany and outside English-speaking countries.

Uwe,
Thank you for your post.
bakahk from reddit had some success using the right English Windows version:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/1e2yqx4/dell_universal_dock_ud22_problem_with_updating/?rdt=42507
Unfortunately, even a native US English Windows 10 install denied identifying USB ports hence the installer could not find a device. Tried from 2 PC + 2 laptops.
However, Uwe's permission idea didn't work for me.

For me no update works at all. Tried with an English native copy of windows and all versions that are available (A03, A04, A05)
Here is the log:
